About Us

Founded in 1965, SWA is the oldest, locally-owned general contractor in Johnson County.

Max Selzer founded the company after serving in the Army. Work focused on residential and commercial construction services, with many projects designed in house. Tom Werderitsch Sr. purchased the company in 1989, at which time Max decided to retire. The company has since expanded its market area, services provided, and overall size. Typical market areas include industrial, commercial, institutional, governmental, and development projects. Since the company’s founding, we have completed over 4,000 projects, with many repeat clients.

SWA is a general contractor, primarily in the market of commercial, institutional, and industrial construction and remodeling. Other markets include residential, medical, education, and government. Our target projects are within the budget range of $25,000 to $6,000,000. Most of our work is design-bid-build, although we also do negotiated design-build work. SWA has a good working relationship with several local architects for any design need. We also have a local developer partnership which allows SWA to provide additional location benefits to clients.

Our employees have many years of experience in various trades. Rough carpentry, concrete, demolition, cabinets, finish carpentry, drywall, framing, doors & hardware, and other skills which provide us with the capability to self-perform much of the work on a project if needed. Project managers have decades of experience and are matched to projects within their specialized market areas.

SWA has an extensive listing of trusted suppliers and subcontractors, each with products or services selected for the project requirements.
